Take my word for it

Along awaited collection - her first written in English - by one of Romania's leading literary figures for over fifty years, Nina Cassian's poems pinpoint the contradictions, absurdities, and pathos of the modern world with courage and wisdom.

Like Czeslaw Milosz and Joseph Brodsky, Cassian has had to reinvent herself in a new country and in a new language. Take My Word for It stands as a confession, a credo, a proclamation of independence from one's native language, and a bill of rights - among them, the right to gain access to a new territory and a new culture.
