"This book focuses on Olonana Ole Mbatian - popularly known as Lenana - one of the most outstanding Maasai Laibons at the beginning of the 20th century. His relationship with the colonialists greatly influenced the colonial policy towards pastoralism as well as European settlement. Most importantly, he was a champion of Maasai cultural heritage (especially the Moran institution) which has survived to the present day."--BOOK JACKET.
