Published in 1927 this is a novel of the so-called Lost Generation of the post WW1 era. The story follows a group of American and British expatriates as they travel from Paris to Pamplona in Spain for the bullfighting festival including the Running of the Bulls through the streets of the town. Hemingway’s central theme is the dissolute and aimless lives of men who are irretrievably damaged by war.
