A collection of vignettes on some of the early white hunters who brought the sport of Arican big-game hunting to such international prominence from the beginning of the 20th century through to the start of World War II. Emily Host is a former New Zealand gorl who married and went to live in Kenya after the war. As the couple travelled around they accumulated stories of the old-time hunters they met. The author realised that unless some detail of some of these hunters was recorded, their stories would be lost within a few decades. The manuscript for this book was completed but not printed before the author's death in 1979 and has been produced by family members. The stories are sprinkled with illustrations and tales of danger, hunting thrills, characters and tragedies.
