Carbon Monoxide Toxicity

The significance of carbon monoxide (CO) poisonings in this century has not changed, as illustrated by the similarity of remarks by Lewin at the beginning of the century and by Krenzelok et al. at its end: Lewin in 1920: "Carbon monoxide causes more health problems and death every year than any other poison or many together" (originally: "Das Kohlenoxyd heischt alljahrlich mehr Opfer an Gesundheit und Leben als irgend ein anderes Gift oder viele zusammen").
